Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday Jesus

We know that the Bible says there were shepherds "keeping watch over their flocks by night" in a field, therefore, it probably wasn't this time of year that Jesus, the Savior to all mankind was born. Nonetheless, I love this celebration of the birth of Christ. In a world that knows so little about Him, "Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven." Matthew 5:16. This season is a wonderful "excuse" to tell others about Christ, but it is certainly under attack.

A Newborn Baby

Did I hear the Christmas bells ring?
In a place where no one speaks His name?
Did I hear the carolers sing?
Where a child has no food to eat?

Did our Nobel deeds betray us and leave a wonderland of pain?
Did our good intentions fail those blessed enough to stand in our wake?
Maybe this Child born in Bethlehem
Isn't Someone we can afford to leave or take.

Christ the Newborn Baby clothed in rags and everything we need.
Adorned with sacrifice and humility.
When our words betray us and our actions speak.
A Conqueror has come, a King to Redeem!

Did I hear the Choirs sing aloud?
Songs of Joy and songs of Peace?
Let us embrace the brokenhearted now,
Leave off selfish gain and earthly deeds.

Do I see a Newborn Baby dressed in everything we lack?
A bed of hay, the warmth of straw, and a heart for the lost.
Come reign, King of Glory, Reign in Me
Hallelujah!
Let the Spirit of Christ live in Me.
