My mom is here helping me out. She came last Friday (the day after Thanksgiving), so, since I haven't had Thanksgiving with her for awhile, or Christmas, I wanted to have Thanksgiving at home and invite a few neighbors and friends on Saturday.
I have to say, it was one of the best Thanksgiving feasts I've had. Everyone brought a dish to share and the contributions were excellent. Kudos, guys.
Dessert table (without desserts).
One of the things that was a surprising hit, was the hot apple cider. I didn't have a jug of cider or anything, I had to choose the German apple juice that I thought would fit the bill. If you find a natural, kind of tart, apple juice, go ahead and stuff an orange with two cinnamon sticks and about 4-5 cloves (I made a smiley face) and let it float in the cider (use a crock pot to keep it warm). I had to add a little sugar to mine, but it turned out great.
Wholly moley, we had a lot of people. I even hauled out the camping chairs, but everyone seemed satisfied.
Like I said, the food was great. We had bacon covered dates, homemade tomato bread, a cheese dish, spinach dip, etc., not to mention the regular stuff and awesome green beans. Thanks Randy, for the turkey! I can't get one on the German economy.
Randy and John.
Keane's room is coming around.
A bunch of ladies from my mom's work gave me some gifts. My Grandma made a cozy quilt. My mom also brought me a bunch of stuff AND put together the crib and changing table while we were at church (my mom rocks). She brought me a breast pump and a sailboat mobile. She also picked up a cutie camo outfit. All I can say is that his room screams "BOY!"
The baby shower is this weekend. I'm looking forward to it (of course). I've been praying for just what I need and not much more. His room is pretty small and it already seems full enough. It's been so much fun.
