On the Neckar

These pictures were all done with the phone, so bare with me.

There is always something going on, on the Neckar, in Heidleberg. Last weekend, apparently the theme was "alternative modes of transportation". That explains the glider plane and the hybrid cars. Everything else was typical. Naked babies in the fountain, beer and bratwurst, and German bands singing American 80s songs in English, with the exception of the one above. We think they were singing Spanish songs. Anyway, we stopped to listen because they were different.

If I had known that it was an event in attempt to sway the public from contributing to global warming, maybe Ben and I would have opted for the paddle boat, instead of the motorized one, but we didn't. So we polluted our way up the Neckar to get a closer look at the castle.

I don't think Ben knew I was taking his picture.

What an awful picture of me, but I wanted to announce that John and I are expecting our first in January. I'm about 11 weeks along. I gave up keeping it a secret when I discovered that my Dad had notified the whole West coast of the United States. So what's the point? Anne and Kelly, I hope you don't mind I'm using the whole charting image too, but I'm using a brown baby. :) Chances are, we won't be having a blond haired blue eyed one. :)

Oh my gosh! Congratulations!
I am so excited for you and can't wait to keep up with pictures and news!
I'm mostly just exhausted, but even that is getting better. I can get sick, only if I don't eat. When I start feeling yucky, I eat, even if I feel I could throw up, and then I feel fine.
We are pretty excited.

Congratulations!!!! I can't believe my friend Kara found out before me! :)
How come your ticker says your only 9 weeks if you're 11 weeks along? Have you been to the doctor yet? I love being pregnant and cannot wait to be a mom - though I wish I could pass by the labor and delivery part.
i think (let me emphasize that part) that in the 40 week count, I'm at 11, but the baby is only 9 weeks old. something like that.

Even though your baby is only 9 weeks old, they consider him/her 11 weeks old. They start counting the day of your last period - not the day of conception.
sara!!!!!!! woohoo!!!!!!!! congratulations! i am so happy for you and i am so excited! what wonderful news! woweeee! you are so lucky that the babies you will birth will be beautiful and dark complected. i have had night meres that i have birthed a baby and an ugly white one had come out... but that will be a reality if we ever do birth one.

Aww! I'm so excited for you guys! You're going to be awesome parents! I just got internet back after a month of not having it, so this was wonderful news to have in my inbox etc. :-)

Congrats again!!!
Kelly, yeah something like that. So is the ticker wrong? I put in the due date, January 18th, but the count is from April 1st.

Janelle, don't be silly, you'll have beautiful toe-headed babies. I did find out today that I've always had a fixation with chaco-babies. I guess I asked for brown cabbage patch kids as well as white ones when I was little.

Congrats Sara. I do hope you can enjoy the next 6 months to their fullest! How very exciting. Do you think you'll find out if its a boy or girl?
Yep, we are going to try to find out what he/she actually is. I don't like referring to the baby as "it". Right now I call it "Blessing".
I have a friend who calls her baby "SLIM". Someone- Living- In- Mommy.
