What a weekend. John got zero rest. Worship, worship practice, church spring cleaning, cleaning the house, baby visiting, Grace group meeting, church, prayer meeting, laundry, size changing for Keane (more laundry).....To top that off, Keane continued with his diarrhea and now he has eczema = FUN!
Last night I was like, "John, I must be doing something wrong." The idea that Keane has itchy legs and can't scratch them, bothers me. On the other hand, it's good. Here's the story.
As you know I've been reading up on vaccines. The Vaccine Book is well written by a Dr. in CA. It describes each vaccine recommended in the States, what it's made of, how common the disease is, etc. Perfect for paranoid moms like myself.
Keane was seeing a German Dr. in the town next to ours, same building where my German classes were. A traditional Dr. who followed all the rules. Well, after reading the Vaccine Book, or part of it, I decided to go with what the author (Dr.) recommended by splitting up some of the shots. So I asked Dr. Traditional if I could just get the DTaP and the rotaviren shot for his first round. "Nope, not possible." He made it sound like it was not possible ever in the country of Germany.
"Ummm...I'll call you back," says I. I had been recommended a Dr. that used natural medicine as well. Ring Ring "Hi, mine name ist Frau Varghese, (that's as far as I got with the German) may I speak to the Dr." The answer was YES, so I talked to Dr. Willinger on the phone about whether or not I could split up the vaccines.
"Yes," was the simple answer, German Docs generally don't mess around much. I did call the other doctor back.....to CANCEL!
Since then I've been very pleased with him. He is not one for bed side manner, but he makes me feel safe. Like the stomach Dr. who diagnosed my cyst two summers ago. I sent him an anniversary card and plant for finding "cystie". Seriously.
I called Dr. Willinger on Friday, on his cell phone, mind you, and told him Keane had diarrhea ever since changing him at an American chapel. "Hi, Dr., Keane has diarrhea......should I give him rice cereal?"
"I need to see him, bring him in today, ok?" click.
Well, OK then. I call John, "Hope you didn't have plans for lunch, 'cause you do now!"
We went and the Dr. checked him out thoroughly and asked us to bring him in again today. The guy is taking care of my son! No wonder the waiting room has a quadrillion babies in it every time we go. That is such an answer to prayer!
BTW diarrhea is gone. Two doses of the medicine kicked it.

Yup, still breast feeding, but only three times a day. It's sort of a long story-
I use a nipple shield and it's hard for him to get enough milk. Now he won't take the regular breast. I could try to force him and I'm sure it would work, but I think he is probably going to start solids soon, he is growing like a weed. So when we get back from the States we'll dive in. He'll be about to turn 5 months.
We are wanting to get pregnant in the fall again. I haven't had my period at all.
