Well...it's nothing compared to you mothers out there, but still, 'tis the season for headaches, cookies, ornament exchanges, secret Santas, Starbuck's Latte cups with snowflakes on them, a billion shoppers (where were they the rest of the year?), and holiday cheer....oh not to mention my OPEN HOUSE!!?!!!
Welp, I need some feed back on this picture that I just did. I used pastels. Artists please! Something is not right. Barbara? anybody? Those of you that know Amy Davies, please don't tell her what Santa, I mean, Sara is sending. Last I knew, she wasn't a blog girl.
I also have another question. I had this brilliant idea (the term 'brilliant' is debated) to have an Open House/Cookie Exchange. It didn't occur to me that my house was going to 'get checked out' during this shin-dig, until too late. Just how clean does my house need to be? and how decorated (I'm newly married with limited Christmas nic nacs)? Now, are we talking about cleaning windows? Are they gonna be looking in my cupboards? "WAIT A MINUTE, that might kill you!!!"
Input is appreciated.

I think Amy will be absolutely delighted!!! So, don't sweat it. Also, the whole house checking out business, don't worry! I'm sure your place will be tidy and that is fine. No need to go berserk cleaning behind your fridge. People will not expect you to have everything nicknacked to death; for one, it's tacky, for two you are newly married and it takes time to build up that kind of clutter.
So, just relax and enjoy your cookie shindig.
Love ya! :)
Yes! You must yahoo, so we can chat, I am much better at chatting than emailing, you'll see.
I miss you too!!! Ummm, pray about it! We'd LOVE LOVE LOVE to come visit, I miss Germany, it was so awesome to live there, I'd move back in a heartbeat. I don't know if the funds will be available to travel there before Brad is active duty again, but I am praying hard that by some fluke we'll get Germany as our first duty station, it could happen!
i tried to leave you a comment the other day, but it would not let me for some silly reason!
anyways, about cleaning up your house... just have the lights a little dimmed with candles... you don't see any dirt that way. (that is what we do, now that a tidy house is not an option.
i love you and miss i could come to germany and see the christmas markets too. and you of course.
love you,
janelle
Yeah, after I sent out all the invitations, I got the overwhelming sensation that people were really going to be checking things out, like "how much space is in this cupboard?", "how sturdy is this door?" CRASH!
I just found your blog. Very cool - I can't wait to look through it when I get a few minutes. You may remember me from NBBC and Ironwood.
I agree with everyone's sentiments about your party. No one should be looking at your cupboards - if they do, either consider them to be really good friends so they shouldn't care. Or. . . well, maybe they aren't such great friends.
Simple decorations are best these days anyways. 3 red candles in a row, a couple nicely cut snowflakes on those "dirty windows," some festive napkins for the cookies. . .
I'm sure it will be fabulous. As Katie B. said, Enjoy the entertaining part of it!
ok, love you & miss you.
